Festival Program

The HOPAD Children’s Festival Program gives the HOPAD children the opportunity to celebrate the most sacred of Hindu days along with the rest of the community. The program funds all kinds of festivals. The majority of the funds are used during the Dashain, Tihar, and Teej festivals. Other less extensive festivals such as Shiva Ratri, Makar Sagrati, and even Christmas are still observed but on a smaller budget.

Festivals give the children the chance to experience cultures first hand. Whether it be their own Hindu celebrations, or lesser known celebrations introduced by volunteers, festival time is an occasion for the children to give thanks and show their appreciation towards their elders.
