Prakash was abandoned by his mother in the hospital after his birth. After the hospital attempted to locate his mother, family members, or someone willing to care for Prakash, he was ultimately referred to HOPAD by the hospital.

Development

Prakash has been with us at HOPAD almost since his birth. During those two years he has progressed naturally as all infants transitioning into childhood do. He is now walking, talking, and extremely active. Prakash is also very curious and loves exploring the house and all its members.

Interests and Hobbies

Prakash enjoys playing games with the smaller children and loves beinginteracting with the older children. His curiosity often gets him into mischief every now and again, but all in all his smiling, pleasant demeanor makes him a joy to be around.

After the death of her father, who was working in India, Anita's mother abandoned Anita and older brother to get remarried. While living with her Uncle, Anita was not being attended to properly. She was not attending school, being looked after, and had no stable home to return to. Due to these conditions, Anita was referred to HOPAD by Narikot P.D.C.

Development

Upon arrival, Anita was extremely malnourished, scared, and very reserved. She could not communicate well making it difficult to comfort her. In the years since, however, Anita has become a vibrant part of the HOPAD home. She is receiving excellent marks in school, can openly communicate in both Nepali and English, and has opened up her naturally loving demeanor up to the world. She is a favorite to all her friends and family members here at HOPAD.

Interests and Hobbies

Anita aspires to be a teacher when she gets older. When not in school, Anita enjoys practicing judo, playing with dolls, singing, dancing, and playing with the older girls.

She is a very observant and intelligent girl. She is very good scorer in the academics field and has become the caption of her class. She is friendly to everyone and is very much sensible.

After his father's death, Shishir's mother remarried and abandoned her son. Shishir was left to be raised by his grandmother. Unfortunately, due to her old age and financial issues, his grandmother was unable to take proper care of him. He was ultimately referred to HOPAD by Halawar V.D.C.

Development

Since his arrival at HOPAD, he has been given the space and resources to explore all the aspects of life his examining mind is curious about. If something captures his interest, it is nearly impossible to get his mind off it. Although his curiosities used to be seldomly directed towards his school work, he has become more and more studious and is a smart boy who is quick at solving problems of any kind.

Interests and Hobbies

Due to Shshir's active nature, he loves playing sports and games with the older children. Carron board, ping pong, and matching games are only a few of his favorites. Moreover, his approach to playing Judo has developed from being rather playful to ambitious and we expect him to do great in the future.

Sarada was raised in an environment of poverty in the Midwestern region of Nepal. Her father was an alcoholic and her mother, who was a housewife back then. Struggling with extremely poor living conditions,her parents were not able to provide the necessary support for their children. she was left to play in the streets with her siblings and their health condition quickly became unbearable. Sarada and her brother Himprawa were sent to HOPAD to receive health care and an education.

Development

When Sarada arrived at HOPAD she was sickly, shy, and anxious. Upon entering school, Sarada was having a hard time, especially struggling with English and Mathematics. However, over years, she has blossomed. She is now in grade nine and doing well in all her studies, even the ones she was once considered weak in. Sarada is an incredibly kind young lady with a rich sense of humor and one would never believe her to have been the helpless little girl she once was.

Interests and Hobbies

Sarada has aspirations to become a Nurse. Her favorite subject in school is science.

Misan was abandoned by his mother four years prior to his arrival at HOPAD. Misan has no recollection of his father and all he knew of his home was that was a small remote village. Upon arrival, Misan was very weak and would often weep uncontrollably. Misan was recommended to HOPAD by the Community Police Service Centre in Tikhedewal 14, Lalitpur.

Development

Since his admission to HOPAD, Misan has truly blossomed. Unlike the weak, weeping child he entered as, Misan has become a driven, peace loving young man. He often the first to begin his studies and is always ready and willing to aid his brothers and sisters with their work as well. With aspirations to be a doctor, Misan is very academically driven.

Interests and Hobbies

When Misan is not studying, he can be found with his nose in a book. He also loves playing football, chess, ping pong, and practicing judo with his friends. With a very peaceful demeanor, Misan is never seen physically or verbally harming anyone.

Development

Jamuna now speaks and is very social with friends and the community members. She enjoys and participates on each occasions that is held on hopad and the school.

Pushpa was born into a family with a disabled father and a mother unable to care for her and her nine siblings. After having lost both of her feet in an accident when she was six months old, going to school presented more than just a challenge. She was admitted to HOPAD to receive a good education and the help she needed to live with her disability.

Development

When Pushpa arrived at HOPAD she was malnourished and had great difficulty walking and moving around because of her deformed feet. However, over the years, Pushpa has learned how to take care of herself and has now become an independent young woman. Not only does Pushpa "make it" in life, but she thrives. She continously surprises the people around her with her ability to overcome every obstacle that life throws at her. Especially when it comes to Judo, where she easily outdoes all of her opponents, no matter whether disabled or not.

When Pushpa is grown up, she wants to become a social worker.

Causes to Admit to HOPAD

There is not much known in regards to Dev's history prior to his arrival to HOPAD. Dev was found in the streets and referred to HOPAD by Ministry of Women and Children and Social Welfare Central Child Welfare Board, Nepal to receive life's basic amenities and a hope for a better future.

Development

Upon arrival to HOPAD, Dev was malnourished and rough around the edges. The transition from living in the streets to HOPAD was hard for Dev. There was a clear difference between the ways the other children treated him. Dev would also show anger more readily than the other children, further out casting himself. However, after a few months, the children began to more accepting of Dev. He started attending school and slowly his rough edges and his anger began to smooth away. Dev is now dedicated to his studies and creating a better future for himself.

Interests and Hobbies

Dev finds many of his interests in the form of sports and games. His favorite subject in school in science.

She was found abandoned by her parents and the family in the location thimi,Bhaktapur without any identity of the parents. the local police of thimi posted the report in the newspaper but no progress was done so she then was referred to hopad.

Development

kusum is a very playful girl who is friendly with everyone inside and outside the hopad. she likes to learn things and participates willingly on the the activities going on.

Interests and Hobbies

Kusum is a very willing girl to learn things. she is interred in dancing and writing stories. she is good on the academic field as well and she likes to participate in sports.

Bishal was found in the streets and referred by the Central Child Welfare Board to HOPAD due to his weak, malnourished, sickly state. Bishal also arrived with a badly broken leg. There is little known as to how he became orphaned and on the streets due to Bishal's age and inability to communicate when he was found.

Development

Upon arrival to HOPAD, Bishal was malnourished, weak, and had a badly broken leg. He was unable to communicate easily with staff members and was very reserved and shy. Since arriving to HOPAD, Bishal's leg has healed nicely and he has greatly opened himself up to the home. Although his English is lacking, he can easily communicate with all in Nepali.

Interests and Hobbies

Bishal shows much interest in sports. Although he is not old enough to become a member of the HOPAD judo team, he can often be found copying the moves around the house throughout the day. There is no doubt he will be a national champion like his older brothers and sisters. Bishal enjoys playing Carron Board, and football.

Causes to Admit to HOPAD

After the death of his biological mother, Gobinda's father remarried and abandoned Gobinda and his brother. The Eastern Minister found Gobinda and promised to give him a home and a quality education but instead took him to his home in the city and abused Gobinda as a domestic servant. Shortly after his arrival at the Eastern Minister's house, Gobinda ran away to escape his suppressive guardian. While living on the streets, ABC television found him and broadcasted Gobinda's story. Gobinda was taken in by the Ministry of Women, Children, And Social Organization, a sect of the Central Children Welfare Board. He was then referred to HOPAD where he could receive the love and care needed to created a bright and successful future.

Development

Gobinda is well on his way to being an independent, successful young man. With his talkative and friendly personality he has made many friends, both at HOPAD and at school.

Interests and Hobbies

His dream, like many of the boys his age, is to become a professional football player.

Causes to Admit to HOPAD

At a young age, Laxman's home was damaged so badly that his family could no longer live in it. His parents moved in with their neighbors and the children lived outside the home. Due to the remote location in which they were living, Laxman's parents had no education or the ability to give their children an education. Laxman and his siblings were homeless for three years before conflict force the family to relocate and Laxman's condition of living was noticed by the V.D.C. It was then Laxman was referred to HOPAD to ensure his health and wellbeing.

Development

He has gone from a frail youth to a still thin, but healthy, motivated young man since entering HOPAD. He excels in his studies and often gives aid to his brothers and sisters with their studies. Laxman continues to be a bright star at the HOPAD home.

Interests and Hobbies

In school, Laxman has aspirations to become a hotel manager. He studies hard and enjoys science and math the best. While with friends, Laxman loves playing football, table tennis, Carron board, and practicing judo.

Causes to Admit to HOPAD

At a young age, Priya's father left Priya and her mother. Priya's mother struggled to support her but was unsuccessful and ultimately had to go to live with her mother's brother. Unfortunately, Priya's uncle became disabled and was unable to work or support Priya. Priya was referred to HOPAD by the Kathmandu Metropolitan City-34 Sinagamgal Kathmandu where she is currently receiving a quality education.

Development

Since arriving to HOPAD, Priya has become an independent, self motivated, driven young woman. Being the eldest of the girls, Priya finds it her duty to set a good example for all the younger children. She is always tending to everyone else's needs before her own but this never discourages her. Priya takes everything in her stride, always with a smile on her face.

Interests and Hobbies

Priya aspires to be a nurse. In school, Priya was very active in extracurricular activities. She often stayed after school to complete projects or to practice with the dance team. Outside of school, Priya is a peace seeker. She can often be found in the quiet spaces of the house, reading, drawing, or working on homework. Priya also enjoys practicing judo with all her brothers and sisters.

Greesh now talks and is open to the nearest. He helps the friends and the members of the hopad. He smiles less but has a very charming smile.he has a little bit of memory problem but he is very willing to learn.

Dhandevi's arrive to HOPAD March 8th after her parents died of cancer. After the death of her parents, Dhandevi lived briefly with a distant relative who physically abused her. Not much else is known of her upbringing or living conditions prior to admittance to HOPAD. Dhandevi was referred to HOPAD by VDC Jayre, Humla and the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare, Central Children Welfare Board.

Development

Before She arrived to HOPAD she was malnourished, weak, and had many bodily wounds. Due to previous living conditions, Dhandevi was very shy and reserved. However, since her arrival to HOPAD, she has opened up to become graceful young lady. She showers all around her with her simple giggles and loving smiles.

Interests and Hobbies

Dhandevi has aspirations to be a pilot so she can deliver aid to remote villages in Nepal. In school, her favorite subject is science and takes pleasure in doing extra science work at home. Dhandevi is a social butterfly who enjoys spending time with her friends, practicing judo, and reading.

Padam was found by the Jaire V.D.C. living in unfit conditions. Padam and his parents were a part of the lower case and struggled to make ends meet. Padam was receiving no education and his parents were deemed unfit to care for Padam. Padam was referred to HOPAD by the Central Children's Welfare Board where he is now receiving all the things to create a bright future for himself.

Development

Since his arrival to HOPAD, Padam has taken up the role as "Mr. Consistent". He is always conscience of his school work and his makes in school. When he needs help with something he always finds the person who can aid him and when he gets off task it only takes a simple reminded to get him back on track. Padam is well on his way to becoming a strong willed, independent young man.

Interests and Hobbies

Padam is a very well rounded boy. He takes pride and joy in his school work, especially when it has drawing involved. Outside of school, Padam enjoys playing sports and games with his brothers, but Carron board is his clear favorite.

Development

When He arrived at HOPAD, he was a weak, highly guarded boy. He didn't care to talk or interact with anyone and would often seek out seclusion. Now, however, he is an integral part of HOPAD. He can often be found helping all his brothers and sisters with homework, coaching them in judo, and even cooking and cleaning for the whole house during festival time. He has gone from a scared little boy, to a powerful, driven young man who understands duty and passion leads to success.

Interests and Hobbies

Himparwa is a young man of many interests and talents. Himparwa also enjoys music, drawing, and playing football.

After suffering through severe abuse by her father, Sima and her mother were abandoned by him. Due to Sima's mother's lack of education, it was impossible for her to earn a sufficient amount of money to tend to Sima's basic needs. Dobanta, Sima's mother, participated in the HOPAD women training program and is now working in the childrens' home as a care mother.

Development

Before arriving at HOPAD, Sima was malnourished and unwilling to interact with others. Over the years, Sima has flourished. She is doing well at school, interacting and communicating happily with her peers, and has a healthy, inquisitive mind.

Interests and Hobbies

When she is grown up, Sima aspires to become a social worker, establishing her own orphanage and caring for children in need. Otherwise, she would like to pursue a career as a singer or an artist of another kind, since she draws excellently. Due to her love for music, Sima is often found practising and teaching dance choreographies to her younger sisters during festival time - or at any other time of the year.
